Bothwell Wound Healing Center Recognized as Center of Excellence by Healogics

Bothwell Wound Healing Center physicians, leaders and staff recently celebrated the center’s Robert A Warriner III, M.D., Center of Excellence Award.

The Center of Excellence Award is given to wound care centers in the Healogics network that have met the highest level of quality standards for a minimum of two consecutive years. Among the criteria are patient satisfaction higher than 92 percent and a wound healing rate of at least 91 percent within 30 days.

Program Director, Katie Case, said it’s the second successive year the center has earned the recognition. “This is exciting news for our team, and it’s great news for our patients, who can feel confident about the quality of the advanced therapies they receive here,” she said.

Out of 19 eligible Healogics wound centers in Missouri, the Bothwell center was one of five to receive the award for 2017. The center, which averages about 250 visits per month, offers highly specialized wound care to patients suffering from chronic wounds. Advanced treatments include hyperbaric oxygen therapy, negative pressure wound therapy, bio-engineered skin substitutes, debridement, biological and biosynthetic dressings, and growth factor therapies.

Case said the most common wounds treated at the center are diabetic ulcers, pressure ulcers, venous leg ulcers and infections that have not healed in a reasonable amount of time. “Patients can make an appointment by simply calling our office,” she said. “They do not need a physician’s referral.”

Bothwell Wound Healing Center is a member of the Healogics network of nearly 800 centers and provides access to best practices in the treatment of chronic wounds.
