Public invited to Community Fitness Night
The medical staff at Bothwell Regional Health Center will again host a free community fitness night from 6 to 9 pm Dec. 28 at Heckart Community Center. The public is invited to attend to use the facility and learn about health topics.
There are almost 100 members of the medical staff, which includes physicians and advanced practice providers such as nurse practitioners, midwives, certified registered nurse anesthetists and physician assistants. Chief of Staff Dr. Stuart Braverman said the team is excited to host the event again.
“We had a lot of great support and participation from the medical team last year so we decided to do it again this year,” he said. “It’s important to us that we see our patients and others in the community in an informal setting like the community center and model healthy activities.”
People can swim, use the courts for basketball and volleyball, get pickleball lessons and “walk with a doc” on the walking track every 30 minutes beginning at 6:30 pm, and there are 20 spots available for childcare for the duration of the evening.
Some members of the medical staff will also be available in the center’s three community rooms to provide information and answer questions about popular health topics including “Safe Dog Walking for Two- and Four-Legged Critters” with Dr. Doug Kiburz and “Nutrition and Fitness” with Physician Assistant Lindsey Graham Edwards. Braverman said the event is meant to be a fun evening of connection in a healthy setting.
“It’s a great opportunity to come out and meet some of the new physicians and other clinicians,” he said. “There are a lot of terrific programs and services at Bothwell that a lot of people might not know about. We encourage people to come prepared with questions or just the desire to work off some of the holiday treats and start the new year with an active mindset.”
The Heckart Community Center is located at 1800 W. Third Street in Sedalia.
