Experienced physician joins Bothwell Truman Lake
Kimetha Fairchild, MD, a board-certified family medicine physician, has joined Bothwell Health Center-Truman Lake in Warsaw and cares for people of all ages.
Dr. Fairchild has been a physician since 2008 and has experience treating injuries and illnesses including high-blood pressure, diabetes, heart disease, COPD/asthma, obesity and mental health concerns. She also provides well-woman care and performs office-based procedures like skin biopsies and incisions and drainage.
She received her medical degree from American University of the Caribbean School of Medicine in St. Maarten and completed residency in 2011 at the University of Missouri Department of Family & Community Medicine in Columbia. In 1996, she earned a bachelor’s degree in Physician Assistant from the University of Florida in Gainesville.
Dr. Fairchild said she started her health care career as a certified Physician Assistant and a love for people that spurred her interest in medicine.
“I have always loved talking to people and helping them, even as a child,” she said. “I truly appreciate the opportunity to understand my patients, listen to them and provide them care throughout their lives. Being a doctor is challenging and emotionally rewarding, and I’m gratified to be included in so many people’s lives.”
Marvin Smoot, Bothwell’s Clinic Operations vice president, said Fairchild has already developed strong connections with patients at the Warsaw clinic and is confident she brings knowledge, skills and patient care to the team.
“Dr. Fairchild is an experienced physician who is empathetic, friendly and well-respected,” he said. “She recognizes the need and importance of quality care, especially in a rural area, and the community has welcomed her with open arms.”
Fairchild considers her relationships with patients to be a partnership in their health.
“Communication and empathy are the keys, and questions are encouraged,” she said. “I tell my patients there are no dumb questions. You have to ask them to gain a better understanding, and I’m here to answer them.”
The Warsaw medical team also includes Nurse Practitioners Chelsea Casteel and Stacey Dobbs. Bothwell Health Center-Truman Lake is located at 1765 Commercial Street. For appointments, call the clinic at 660.438.6800.
