Bothwell purchases building to expand specialty services
Bothwell Regional Health Center has finalized purchase of a building that will become Bothwell Specialty Services.
The building, located at 3131 Brianna Blvd., is formerly the site of Women’s Health and Surgical Center operated by Dr. Elmer Van Dyke. Marvin Smoot, Bothwell’s Clinic Operations vice president, said the opportunity to purchase the building came after Van Dyke retired in December and closed his practice.
“The building is laid out well and flexible enough to accommodate our broad range of services,” he said. “Purchasing it is an exciting opportunity to fill service gaps in the community and free up space in the Healing Arts Center to expand family medicine care.”
Since the building is already a medical clinic, little work needs to be done to prepare it for use. Dr. Jonathan Beary with Bothwell Neurology will move from the Healing Arts Center to the building. In addition to Dr. Beary’s practice, Christopher Dallo, MD, a new full-time dermatologist will practice there. Smoot said the timing of the building’s purchase and hiring Dr. Dallo were coincidental.
“We started discussing the opportunity to purchase the building to expand existing specialties with high potential for growth,” he said. “During this time, we learned about Dr. Dallo’s interest in coming to Sedalia. Dermatology is a specialty that is in high demand, and we’re fortunate he’s joining us.”
Smoot presented the plan to purchase the building to the Sedalia City Council, which was required before proceeding. Bothwell Regional Health Center is chartered by the City of Sedalia. Mayor Andrew Dawson said the health center’s proposal and council’s decision to purchase the building is a strategic move that creates synergy in health care offerings.
“Bothwell’s acquisition of Dr. Van Dyke’s building means combining specialty services in one location,” he said. “This not only increases convenience for our residents but also exemplifies our commitment to providing comprehensive, high-quality medical care. Together, we are building a healthier future for Sedalia.”
Dr. Dallo will begin seeing patients at Bothwell Specialty Services on July 25. For appointments, people should call Centralized Scheduling at 660.829.8888.
