Bothwell Foundation to host men’s health and fishing event in Warsaw

The Bothwell Foundation invites men to attend “Docs and Bobbers,” an engaging event combining important men’s health topics with fishing tips and tactics. The event will take place at 7 pm Thursday, April 17 at Bothwell Health Center-Truman Lake in Warsaw, located at 1765 Commercial St.

Sponsored by the foundation’s Community Relations committee, “Docs and Bobbers” will feature information from Bothwell physicians on key men’s health topics and expert advice on crappie spawn fishing from a lake-area fishing specialist. This event aligns with the committee’s goal of promoting health education and community engagement in an enjoyable and accessible way.

Speakers include Dr. Gabriel Anders from Bothwell Pulmonary Specialists speaking about sleep apnea, Dr. Dalton Lohsandt from Bothwell Family Medicine who will talk about preventing and treating outdoor activity-related injuries and Jason Smith with MO Fishing Guide.

Diana Nichols, chair of the Community Relations committee, said the group is looking forward to hosting its first men’s event.

“Events like these help bridge the gap between health care and the community,” she said. Docs and Bobbers is a unique way to connect with men in our region, providing them with valuable health information while engaging them in an activity they love.”

Drinks and appetizers will be provided, and attendees will be entered into a drawing for a free guided fishing trip. Seating is limited, and reservations are requested by April 14 by emailing lnakagawa@brhc.org or calling 660.829.8855.

The Community Relations committee is highlighting opportunities for area clubs, organizations and businesses to explore Bothwell facilities, including the Truman Lake clinic. Those interested in a tour should contact Lauren Thiel-Payne, Bothwell Foundation executive director at lthiel@brhc.org.
