Nurse practitioner joins Bothwell walk-in clinics medical team
April Ream, a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner, has joined Bothwell Regional Health Center’s walk-in clinics team and will care for patients of all ages for their urgent health care needs.
As a nurse practitioner, Ream can see patients, evaluate and treat illnesses and injuries, order and interpret labs and tests, prescribe and monitor medications and refills, and perform annual health exams, well-woman and physicals.
Ream has been a nurse for more than 20 years and received a master’s degree in Family Nurse Practitioner in 2015 from Cox College in Springfield, Missouri. She earned a bachelor’s degree in Nursing from Central Methodist University in Fayette, an associate degree in Nursing from Excelsior College in Albany, New York, and a certificate in Practical Nursing from State Fair Community College.
Ream has spent much of her nursing career in emergency medicine, hospital care and family medicine and has taught nursing courses as an adjunct instructor at State Fair Community College. She said her interest in nursing was sparked in high school.
“When I was a senior, I chose the Health Occupations program at the vocational technical school in Warrensburg,” Ream said. “That’s where my passion for nursing grew.”
Marvin Smoot, Bothwell’s Clinic Operations vice president, said Ream’s diverse experiences and history with the health center make her a great addition to the walk-in care team.
“April knows our patient population well from her time at Bothwell working at the hospital and at Lincoln Family Medicine,” he said. “Her most recent experience in emergency medicine provides her with a knowledge base that is well-suited for a walk-in setting. We are excited to welcome April back and know she will provide exceptional care to the community.”
Ream said she’s happy to be returning to Bothwell Regional Health Center.
“My decision to travel as a nurse gave me experience and perspective,” she said. “I chose to come back to Bothwell because it’s close to home and the community I love.”
Bothwell has two walk-in clinics in Sedalia, Walk In Winchester in the Bothwell Healing Arts Center at 3700 W. 10th St., and Walk In Off Broadway at 700 S. Hancock. Ream joins Nurse Practitioners Belinda Harper, Ali Roth, Mindy Vesperman and Stacey Dobbs, and Physician Assistants Kelsey Reid and Mike Shipp. No appointment is needed to be seen for care.
