Bothwell Honors Outstanding Employees
Andrew Darrah, a hardware specialist in the Information Technology department at Bothwell Regional Health Center (BRHC), was named BRHC’s 2017 Employee of the Year during BRHC’s annual Employee Service Awards Luncheon.
Bothwell’s Chief Executive Officer, Jimmy Robertson, said Darrah is known for his pleasant attitude and his willingness to quickly troubleshoot IT and computer problems. “Any time there is an issue, Andrew takes the time to explain what’s going on and how he plans to fix it,” Robertson said. “If it’s an issue he has to pass on to a co-worker, he always follows up to make sure it was taken care of.”
Darrah was selected from among the group of 12 Employees of the Month recipients in 2017. The other nominees were Kasey Fredendall, Wendy Fairfax, Carla Anderson, Jeff Jenkins, Ana Lopez, Karen Zimmerschied, Joe Velando, Natalie Paxson, Lauren Cardenas, Jennifer Suthers and Brenda Wendling.
BRHC also named the 2017 Nurse of the Year and Nursing Support Person of the Year during their National Nurses Week celebration held May 11 at the hospital.
Maria Bunch was named the 2017 Nurse of the Year. Bunch is a registered nurse in the hospital’s Critical Care Unit. “Maria’s most notable quality is her leadership skill,” said Chief Nursing Officer, Rose McMullin. “Whether it is staying late to help other nurses finish their work, talking you through a difficult situation or managing high patient flow, Maria is the nurse you want by your side when times become challenging.”
Jan Henson, administrative assistant to McMullin, was selected Nursing Support Person of the Year. In her nomination, Henson was praised for her exemplary service not only to the chief nursing officer, but to all the nursing units at the hospital.
“She willingly assists multiple departments with anything they need help with,” her nomination said. “Even if she doesn’t know how to provide what they need, she’ll find out who does and connect them with that person.”
BRHC honors its employees each year throughout National Hospital Week, which took place from May 6-12.
