Having surgery can be an anxious time for you and your family, but at Bothwell, you can rest easy, secure in the knowledge that our surgeons, anesthesiologists and nurses have the training and experience needed to provide the best possible care.

Prior to surgery, you will be scheduled for an informational consultation with an anesthesiologist to discuss the delivery of drugs before, during or after surgery, for sedation or to control pain. These sessions help you feel more comfortable with the surgery process and help the anesthesiologist gather specialized information needed to provide exceptional surgical care.

Over 60 percent of surgeries that take place at Bothwell hospital are same-day procedures. This means you may stay fewer than 24 hours following surgery. These quicker procedures and recovery times are possible through surgical advances, such as laparoscopic surgery that typically requires several very small incisions.

Some surgeries at Bothwell hospital require one or more overnight stays for a higher level of care in the hospital to ensure your recuperation progresses without complication. Post-surgical patients stay in specialized in-patient units where the medical staff is specially trained to provide the care you require after surgery.

At Bothwell hospital, strict safety guidelines are followed to ensure your best care. All of our acute care registered nurses are certified in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), and many are certified in Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS). Our five surgical suites offer state-of-the-art equipment including video imaging and digital radiology capabilities for surgery.
