Having surgery can be an anxious time for patients and their families, but at Bothwell Regional Health Center patients can rest easy, secure in the knowledge that our physicians, anesthesiologists and nurses have the training and experience needed to provide the best possible care.

For example, infection can be a risk in any surgery. We hold the line on surgical infections by making sure our surgical teams follow stringent safety guidelines for patient care.

All of our acute care registered nurses are certified in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), and a third are certified in Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS). Our five surgical suites offer state-of-the-art equipment including video imaging and digital radiology capabilities and surgery. For more information on our surgery services, email or call (660) 827-9520.

Anesthesiology is the delivery of drugs before, during or after surgery for sedation or to control pain. Each surgical patient is scheduled for an informational consultation with the anesthesiologist prior to surgery. These sessions help patients feel more comfortable with the surgery process and help the anesthesiologist gather specialized information needed to provide exceptional surgical care.

Some surgeries require one or more overnight stays for a higher level of care in the hospital to ensure your recuperation progresses without complication. Our post-surgical patients stay in specialized units where the medical staff is specially trained to provide the care patients require after surgery.

You don’t want to be away from home any longer than necessary. That’s why Bothwell Regional Health Center is proud of the fact that more than 60 percent of our surgeries are same-day procedures. This means most patients stay less than 24 hours following surgery. These quicker procedures and recovery times are possible through surgical advances, such as laparoscopic surgery that typically requires several very small incisions.
