Rehab Therapy

Bothwell Regional Health Center’s experienced multi-disciplinary staff and state-of-the-art exercise and diagnostic equipment help patients get back to their full potential as quickly as possible.

Bothwell’s Rehab Therapy includes Occupational, Physical and Speech Therapy, Cardiac Rehabilitation and an athletic trainer. Our health and rehabilitation professionals are trained to help people of all ages regain and build skills that are vital to their health and well-being. Therapists treat a wide variety of existing problems and provide preventative care through evaluation and individual treatment programs to improve movement and function, relieve pain and expand movement potential.

Our patients share a common challenge — to reach a new level of self reliance. Physicians, therapists and nurses trained in specialty areas such as spinal cord injury, brain injury, stroke, general neurological conditions, hand injuries, lymphedema, and voice disorders provide care to patients with the ultimate goal of returning them to home or a home-like setting.

Our services are offered for either an in-patient or out-patient setting, and are physician ordered. Outpatient physical therapy services are available by appointment at the following:

Pulmonary Rehab

Pulmonary Rehabilitation is designed for individuals with chronic pulmonary diseases such as asthma, bronchitis, emphysema, cystic fibrosis, pulmonary fibrosis, rheumatoid pulmonary disease, severe obesity, lung disease and other conditions.

Our multi-disciplinary professional team helps individuals living with chronic lung disease (COPD) regain their strength and reduce the frequency and length of hospital stays through Pulmonary Rehabilitation.

Patients can enhance their ability to do the normal activities of daily living, increase their exercise tolerance, develop the ability to cope with shortness of breath and better understand and manage their illness.

The program has three phases that progress from in-patient care through out-patient, monitored care. For more information on pulmonary rehabilitation, email info@brhc.org or call (660) 827-9556.

Physical Therapy

The services are designed to assist patients in achieving optimal strength, independence and the ability to perform necessary daily activities to aid them in returning to the highest possible level of independent living.

Physical therapists use strengthening and range-of-motion exercises, education and hands-on joint mobilization to improve general mobility functions, such as walking.

Occupational Therapy

Occupational therapists help people of all ages regain, develop, or master everyday skills in order to live independent, productive and satisfying lives. Services include rehab after surgery, trauma, arthritis, or injury to hands/arms and treatment of work-related injuries, such as carpal tunnel syndrome and tendonitis.

Patients are able to regain the skills needed to care for themselves through activities of daily living (ADL) training. Occupational therapists teach techniques, strategies and uses of adaptive equipment to perform specific tasks, such as getting dressed and brushing hair, through ADL training.

Speech Therapy

Speech therapy may be needed to improve a person’s ability to communicate because of the impact of stroke, injuries or diseases such as Parkinson’s, cancer or pulmonary disease. Speech therapists also assist patients who have swallowing disorders.

Our speech therapists use evidence-based therapy techniques proven by research to improve patients’ communication abilities. They strive to help patients obtain the most independent form of communication possible and assist them in improving cognitive abilities required for daily activities.
