Become A Volunteer
Our volunteers are a vital part of the services we provide to our patients and their families. They deliver flowers and newspapers, escort patients, assist patients’ families and visitors, staff the gift shop, prepare patient information packets and provide spiritual support. By performing these small but very important services, our volunteers add a personal touch to the hospital and help make it a warm, friendly place.
Bothwell offers a variety of volunteer opportunities for people who enjoy serving others. These include:
- Information Desk
- Gift Shop
- Concern Desk
- Joint Center Coaches

American Red Cross
The American Red Cross volunteers are the first people you meet when you arrive at Bothwell’s main entrance. They provide information to ensure patients and visitors arrive at their destination. They deliver flowers, mail, newspapers and official paperwork to patients; transport patients upon admission and dismissal; and provide other services requested by health center staff.

The Auxiliary is a major supporter of Bothwell Regional Health Center. Aside from managing and operating the gift shop, they host book fairs, scrub sales, jewelry shows and coordinate the annual Ice Cream Social. The funds raised by the Auxiliary are returned to the health center by helping purchase health-care equipment and providing scholarships. The group also operates concern desks in waiting rooms, which assists patients and visitors with various needs and information.

Chaplains visit patients and family members who request chaplain services during the admission process or during their stay at the hospital. Chaplain volunteers offer a presence that is supportive, affirming, consoling and positive. The chaplain does not lead the patient in conversation or activity but instead listens to the patient and acts in a supportive capacity. Hospital staff can help put patients and families in contact with a member of the Chaplain Services staff.
People suitable to serve as a volunteer chaplain include anyone in a church leadership, service or ministry position. This includes pastors, elders, deacons, parish nurses, Sunday school teachers and others. Because volunteer chaplains represent Bothwell Regional Health Center while performing these services, they must be moral, mature and act in a professional and self-composed manner. The person must fill out an application
and undergo a background check in addition to completing training provided by the health center.

The Gift Shop at Bothwell Regional Health Center is operated by the BRHC Auxiliary and is located in the main lobby of the hospital.
Our Gift Shop offers many specialty and holiday gift items as well as fresh flower arrangements, greeting cards, mylar balloons, new baby gifts, toys, hand creams, stuffed animals and more. Candy, gum and other snack items are also available in the gift shop.
The revenues raised by Gift Shop sales are returned to hospital improvement projects. The Gift Shop can be reached by calling (660) 827-9548.
