BOTHWELL HONORS VOLUNTEERS WITH LUNCHEON
6/14/2016
SEDALIA, MO - Bothwell Regional Health
Center honored its volunteers from the American
Red Cross, Bothwell Auxiliary, and Chaplain volunteers at its annual Volunteer
Appreciation Luncheon held Thursday, April 21, at First United Methodist Church
Celebration Center.
“These volunteers who give so freely
of their time and talents to help Bothwell take care of patients and their
families are truly a blessing to us. They’re worth their weight in gold. In
fact, I wouldn’t trade them for all the gold in Fort Knox,” said Jimmy
Robertson, chief executive officer of Bothwell Regional Health Center.
One hundred forty-three Bothwell
volunteers donated a total of 28,377 hours of service to Bothwell Regional
Health Center in 2015. Volunteers who worked more than 100 hour received Presidential
Service Award pins.
Auxiliary volunteer Martha Bridges was
honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award, which is bestowed on volunteers who
have donated more than 4,000 hours of service.
Jim Monroe
received the Ida Hoffman Volunteer of the Year Award from the American Red
Cross. He volunteered 1,335 hours of service to the hospital in 2015. This
included 537 hours for the Red Cross, 558 hours for the Auxiliary and 240 hours
as a chaplain. Other nominees for the Red Cross award included Esther
Onufreychuk, Carol Perkins, Shirley Scrape and Jack Veulemans.

Christine Detherage received the
Marian Tempel Volunteer of the Year 2014 Award from the Auxiliary. Detherage volunteered
385 hours of service to the hospital in 2015.

The volunteers provide an incredibly
valuable service to the hospital. In fact, if the volunteers were paid, the
value of the services from Auxiliary volunteers would be $341,759. The value of
the services from the American Red Cross would be $296,980.
Nominations for The American Red Cross
and the Bothwell Auxiliary are based on service, character and dedication. Group
members then vote to select the volunteers of the year, who are recognized at the
annual appreciation luncheon.
